Missouri & Illinois Tint Laws - 2024

Missouri Highway Patrol allows for passenger vehicles to be tinted no darker than 35% VLT (Visible Light Transmittance) on the front two doors. The rear windows of any vehicle can be any level of VLT. DOT registered vehicles must allow 70%+ VLT on side windows.


Illinois is a bit more strict for passenger sedans and coupes. All windows may not be darker than 35% VLT. On SUVs and Vans, the back windows can be any darkness but the front doors must not measure darker than 50% VLT.
